Alignment with Purpose

February 2022 is asking us to dig deep

At winter’s end the land lies fallow and stark, yet there is brooding life underneath, awakening and preparing for the next season. Prior to shooting up through the ground, the seedlings have to ready themselves for growth but not yet, as the harsh cold has a bit more dancing to do. But soon enough, warmer days will prevail. This time of year is akin to the “planning stage” of the garden. Designing the layout, digging up weeds, turning over the dirt, adding new soil and choosing plants – these are the major tasks before the physical act of planting begins.

Lately I’ve been sifting through my younger self’s emotions, my past motivations, and examining how I’ve let my teenage self run the show when I’m emotionally triggered. What old narratives am I repeating in my psyche? Where have I moved forward and created new stories and where have I stayed stuck? The irony is that both are happening at once. I learn and grow, then regress into old patterns, then get myself back out, then regress, then rebound, etc., etc. I’ve been examining my purpose for years now, feeling like I was snapped into adulthood before I had the tools to deal, then not ending up where I thought I’d be by now. One learns that not everything is a straight line, in fact, most things aren’t. I’ve always known that I wanted to write and express, to connect people to other people and ideas that they’ve never known or experienced before, ultimately to help them open their minds and hearts. I love to see the wheels turning in people’s mind, to see eyes light up, positions change, perspectives shift. This happens when a person opens up to others.

That desire inside to create, express and connect has never, ever died down since my youth, but a piece of it went dormant. When you don’t exercise a muscle, it atrophies. So here I am once again finding my voice as a writer, a woman, a wife, and a seeker of truth and understanding. The muscle memory is there, thankfully. What’s changed is that I don’t need it to be on a specific timeline anymore. I’m not “freaking out” if something isn’t going according to an old plan, a plan that I made for myself when I had experienced much less life than the person I am today. I’m in charge now. I don’t have to answer to my younger self anymore.

This year, 2022, is one of those years for all of Humanity. Whatever we’ve been putting off is tapping our shoulder. It has been for some time, whispering in our ear but that whisper has turned into a yell. If you have felt more emotional, intense and moody, you’re not alone. There seems to be a combined sense of dread and hope. Perhaps not felt in exactly the same way by everyone, there is undoubtedly a collective duality of hope and pessimism.

February is named after Februa, the Roman Festival of Purification. With renewal comes a cleansing, a purification to wash away the past and clear a path for new opportunities. At the beginning of the month we had the Lunar New Year and the start of Imbolc season. Imbolc is an ancient Celtic holiday celebrating the stirrings of Spring and it signifies a time to clear out the clutter and start fresh. The Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year) falls under the Black Water Tiger. Water is fluid. Tigers are fierce and strong. There is a duality of strength and sensitivity, of stealthy ambition and deep understanding. All of that synchronicity is poignant considering the cosmic happenings and the emotional weight of the world on all of our shoulders. We are in the process of Transformation. Best dig in and get the work done to confront, accept, move on, and reset. It’ll soon be time to pull the arrow back in the bow, aim for a target, and then shoot. What is your target?

Astrological and Numerological Insights

February, with its Aquarius and Pisces seasons, offers a chance at inner work, facing of shadows – personally and on the global scale – pondering humanity’s situation and then finding solutions. Humans have been selfish for a long, long time and deep down we feel it. On the surface we know it; we see it daily. Yet we can no longer just lament or add commentary on *the crazy* while putting off our need to work together as a collective. Only together can we create more harmony and happiness in the world. Life doesn’t have to be this hard. It really, really doesn’t. And that secret is getting out to the world! But the deal is, to get there, we have to acknowledge that “living a good life” can no longer be about our personal needs alone. Every living thing on this planet is linked and it’s a fact that cannot be ignored any longer. We are linked in all the ways. We deeply affect each other every moment of every day. Aquarius reminds us that we are responsible for our reality so it’s time to be accountable. Pisces reminds us that we are emotional, sensitive creatures that thrive in the presence of love and shrivel in the presence of hate. Since we are officially in the Age of future-minded and magnanimous Aquarius, the future is the present and there is no such thing as a status quo anymore.

You can even see it in the numbers! In numerology, 2022 = 6 (2+0+2+2 = 6). Six is concerned with the home & family, service, kindness, and responsibility to the collective. The month of February is a 2. Two is all about cooperation, patience, diplomacy, values, support and spirituality.

The month of February 2022 in numerology is an 8 (2+2+0+2+2 = 8) and eight represents success, achievement, self reliance, efficiency and abundance.

Breaking down the specific days – February 20 and 22. On February 20th, add another 2 (20/02/2022 | day/month/year) and the day equals 10, which is a 1 (1+0 = 1) and one always means New Beginnings.

You’ve heard of the synchronicity of 11, well the same goes for 22 – both are Master Numbers. Twenty-two represents greatness, accomplishment, big projects, community, and working for the good of the planet. February 22 is on a Tuesday (twos-day) so that is THE MOST POWERFUL DAY this year to set intentions, break through the shadows and mark a prayer or affirmation for this year and the next 21 years after it (as 2022 signifies the first year in a new 22-year cycle). Yes, this year and this month is THAT important! On the 22nd, add yet another 2 (22/02/2022) and we’ll have a 12, which equals 3 (1+2 = 3). Three represents joviality, optimism, social expression, and also happiness. All of those beautiful numbers (1, 2, 3, 8) are influencing the energy of February – but the 2 is the most powerful as it is repeated numerous times.

Note the power times as well: 2:00 am/pm, 2:02 am/pm, 2:20 am/pm, 2:22 am/pm, 20:00p (8 p.m.) 20:02p, 20:20p, 20:22p, 22:00p (10 p.m.), 22:02, 22:20 and finally 22:22! For a Twos-day the 22nd, that is a multitude of 2’s!

Set intentions and ask yourself: what will you do to advance yourself in your purpose (this isn’t necessarily about career, in fact it’s more about your spiritual progression)? How will you cooperate and participate with our collective consciousness? What values will you lean in to and represent the highest version of yourself?

Remember to be patient and turn on your Observer, the one who notices but doesn’t judge. Don’t concern yourself with how long something is taking. A bloom will only open when it is ready, in its own time. It cannot be forced. The same goes for our growth. Keep showing up, doing the inner work and the outer work. Focus more on what you are doing and why, than how long it is taking. Measure it by your level of gratitude and your ability to detach from judgment. That is far more important than time frames!

Use the wisdom of the 2’s to look within, solidify your values, connect to Spirit and carefully plant only the seeds which you want to see grow this year and over the next 22 years. This is a poignant, powerful time. Use the rest of winter to prepare. Come April, it’ll be time to breakthrough and feel the light on our faces.
